TOWN is excited to partner with Homes England to bring forward a transformative cohousing community at Northstowe, Cambridge. This collaboration marks an important step in delivering significant benefits to Northstowe through placemaking, sustainability, and long-term community building, while also addressing a clear demand for cohousing in Cambridge.

Located ten miles from Cambridge, Northstowe is one of Britain’s most significant new towns under development, envisioned to include up to 10,000 new homes and serve approximately 25,000 residents. The development will feature a new town centre, along with education, leisure, and employment opportunities. TOWN is committed to supporting Homes England and its local partners in realising this long-term vision for the new town.

Earlier in 2024, TOWN undertook a successful market testing exercise, finding a high level of interest in cohousing the Greater Cambridge area. TOWN is now in the process of building a group of future residents, who through a codesign process with long-term collaborators Mole Architects, will help to shape the new cohousing community. The scheme will include 40% affordable housing, together with a range of communal spaces and facilities.
