TOWN hosted a pop-up exhibition on the Sunniside Place Programme as part of the Sunderland Expo event, taking place on the 15th and 16th of October 2024.

Exhibition at Mackie’s Corner.

The exhibition showcased the Sunniside Place programme, an ambitious ten-year strategy designed to reinvigorate the historic neighbourhood of Sunniside in Sunderland.

Set in the windows of Mackie’s Corner, a landmark building marking the gateway to Sunniside, the exhibition highlighted the ongoing transformation of the area. The exhibition provided information into the future vision for Sunniside, particularly the upcoming Nile and Villiers housing project, where TOWN is working with Sunderland City Council and Siglion to deliver housing-led redevelopment of a brownfield site. This housing development is a key part of Sunniside’s regeneration and is set to break ground in November 2024.
The project will deliver a mix of high-quality homes, designed with sustainability and community at its core.

An evening reception closed the Expo, bringing together representatives from Sunderland City Council, local stakeholders, and investors. In his speech, Council leader Cllr Michael Morley highlighted the significance of the Sunniside Place initiative in shaping the city’s future.
