Linmere in Bedfordshire is a large-scale, long-term development that will create a new quarter of 5,000 homes and 90 acres of green space, alongside education, community, cultural and retail uses, over the next 10 years.

Masterplanners, The Houghton Regis Management Company (HRMC) – a consortium that includes Lands Improvement, Aviva Investors, and the Diocese of St Albans – has appointed TOWN, following a competitive tender process, to create a cohousing community in this new quarter.

The cohousing community at Linmere will be a place where residents know and support their neighbours and share spaces and resources to live more connected and sustainable lives. The future community will have shared spaces that could include a Common House, communal kitchen and dining spaces and shared guest rooms. Future residents will also have the opportunity to customise their own homes, tailoring the internal configurations, rear extensions, dormers for larger rooms, and a choice of cladding and front door designs, enabling future residents to design their homes to their needs.

TOWN is now in the process of building a group of future residents, who through a codesign process, will help to shape the new cohousing community.
