TOWN, with Angel Yard cohousing group hold quarterly ‘Community Days’, jointly prepared by TOWN’s Head of Community Partnering, Frances Wright, and members of the cohousing group.

The Community Days are an opportunity for the developer to come together with the cohousing group to socialise and discuss important design questions and concerns relating to the scheme at Angel Yard. Frances brings the lived experience of having participated in a similar process at Marmalade Lane as a prospective resident. The community days are usually facilitated by Frances to enable group members to fully participate.

On October’s Community Day, the group delved into design considerations in anticipation of the detailed design process post approval of the planning application. Some key questions and discussion topics surfaced, including whether a standard kitchen and a self-fit option enough for the kitchen, if four toilets are really needed for the Common House and establishing the viability of a ‘library of things’ in a cohousing context.

After sharing lunch together, the afternoon session explored the group’s guiding principles for their new community.
